| The Blind Center is Unique There is nothing like them between Raleigh and the coast of North Carolina The Blind Center of Washington, NC is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide support and services to the blind and visually impaired of Beaufort and surrounding counties. The center is staffed by a Director and Assistant Director and approximately 50 volunteers. The Center enhances the independent lifestyle and self esteem of blind and visually impaired people by providing a positive atmosphere in which education, independent living skills and dexterity (mental and physical) are maintained through craft oriented programs. Medical support, aids, appliances and other resources are also offered. The Blind Center and Gift Shoppe 221 N. Harvey Street, Washington, NC 27889 Our Gift Shoppe is brimming with items made by our blind and visually impaired clients, assisted by sighted volunteers. It is on these products that we pin our hopes and dreams to achieve independence. The Blind Center is 40 to 50% self-sufficient. The remaining 60% in funding is an annual challenge.
