Mexico is so close to the USA, yet the trading relationship is anything but fair and equal. Despite a burgeoning middle class and creation of wealth in Mexico around 20% of the population are categorized as in extreme poverty, in rural areas this is almost doubled. The sale of handicrafts provides some of these families with a sustainable income. Mexico and the artisans we work with have a unique opportunity to access the US market due to proximity.
