These items are handmade in the highlands of Guatemala. Each piece is freehand embroidered on a small sewing machine in the town of Xela by Mayan women. The embroidery is then overdyed and sewn into pouches and bags by a small family owned business that pays special attention to quality. Depending on the color of the thread used the dye will turn into different shades of the color that was used.
