Twisted Giraffe Salad Serving Set

Handmade in Kenya, these salad servers are carved from renewable muhugu wood. The wood is carved to appear as if it is three pieces twisted and the end depicts a giraffe. Average length is 12 inches.

Producer Profile The mission of Bomboluluis to change the situation of handicapped persons in Mombasa, Kenya to one of support for themselves and their families. The organization provides training and equipment for 150 individuals to work on craft production. Bombolulu operates in a compound of sixteen acres and not only provides jobs for the handicapped, but also providing housing, healthcare, and a school fees support program. Within the compound, the employees have also managed a welfare society, as well as a co-operative to provide loans for their community. They strive not only to provide better conditions for the handicapped, but also to create a sustainable environment for the community by using recycled materials from the local communities in their crafts.

Bombolulu desires to expand and hire more disabled artisans who are in need of supporting themselves and their families. They hope to do this by reaching a wider market, increasing production capacity, providing more job-training, and developing new products. Craft items from Bombolulu, sold all around the world, provide salaries that support disabled artisans and their families, and allow for an increase of production so more artisans can be hired.
